About us The Hatter Cardiovascular Institute at UCL has been awarded a 3 year British Heart Foundation grant and are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow, with speciific interest in neuroprotection, relating to ischaemic stroke.About the role Applications are invited for a Research Fellow post funded by a British Heart Foundation grant, investigating ways of protecting the brain from injury in the setting of ischaemia-reperfusion injury. The research programme will specifically focus on the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT signalling pathway and investigates the neuroprotective effect of a novel, UCL-developed compound utilising an in vivo Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion (MCAO) stroke model to determine associated pathways involved in the PI3K/AKT pathway in stroke. You will work closely with basic and clinical scientists.About you Applicants must have a strong background in Neurological and Cardiovascular Physiology and Biology/Cell Biology/ Molecular Biology.
