Description
The Science & Innovation Core Analytical Sciences (S&I CAS) Group at Wilmington, DE, is seeking a talented Analytical Scientist to provide analytical solutions for DuPont. The candidate will be expected to work as part of cross-functional teams in support of R&D, Customer issues, Manufacturing, and Product Quality. This exciting position will focus using NMR to solve important problems and develop cutting-edge new technology.
Responsibilities

Independently conduct various NMR experiments and analyze/interpret data to provide insights for business problems.

Update and implement new methods in lab operations to optimize efficiency, minimize downtime, and improve data quality.

Participate in cross-functional teams to provide scientific insights and execute project tasks.

Lead projects focused on investigating technical problems and proposing solutions.

Develop and validate new NMR methods for data acquisition and analysis.
-
Communicate results and findings effectively to stakeholders and peers.

Maintain lab equipment and manage lab supplies and reagents to ensure smooth lab functioning.

Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, including appropriate handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, and develop and implement safety protocols to minimize risks to staff and equipment.

Stay abreast of the latest developments in NMR technology and industry practices, and work with other NMR scientists to explore new applications and techniques that could benefit the company.
Required Qualifications
- MS in Analytical or Organic Chemistry (or similar discipline) or a BS degree plus at least 2 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Strong chemical and polymer characterization and analytical problem-solving skills.

Experience in advanced NMR techniques (homo/heteronuclear 1D & 2D, PFG diffusion applications, low-field NMR, Solid-State NMR etc.).

Familiarity with Bruker NMR operating platforms and software.

Skilled at handling and preparing samples for NMR analysis.

Experience and expertise in one or more of the following chemical analyses is highly desirable: chromatographic separation and mass spectrometry (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, GPC, IC).

Strong skills in troubleshooting NMR instrument.

Self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented individual able to work in a fast-paced team environment
