About usUCL Eastman Dental Institute:The Institute presently comprises of 3 research departments:
- Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering
- Microbial Diseases
- Clinical Research
The Department of Microbial Diseases:The department currently consists of six academics and has dedicated technical support staff. The department undertakes research to reduce the burden of infection by developing novel potential antimicrobial strategies and in improving human health through studying host-microbiome interactions. Our current research includes, but is not limited to, bacterial genetics, biofilms, the microbiome in health and disease, novel antimicrobial strategies and cellular microbiology with an emphasis on innate immunity. The department has a strong track record of translational research and has generated and commercialised intellectual property in the form of eight recent patent applications and two patent licensing agreements.In October 2020, EDI Research moved in to state-of-the-art facilities within the UCL Hampstead Campus on the Royal Free Hospital site in Hampstead, London. This relocation has brought together researchers of the present EDI Biomaterials &; Tissue Engineering and Microbial Diseases Departments and provide opportunities for greater direct collaboration with the UCL Divisions of Surgery, Medicine and Infection and Immunity.About the roleUCL School of Pharmacy and Eastman Dental Institute are seeking a postgraduate researcher or Early Career Researcher to help with the identification of impact case studies for submission to future national research assessment exercises, including Research Excellence Framework (REF). Pharmacy and Dentistry form part of Unit of Assessment (UoA) 3 for the REF and this position will involve working across both divisions. This role will map the existing and potential impacts from research based in UCL School of Pharmacy and UCL Eastman Dental Institute. This will include identifying ongoing impacts from REF2021 impact case studies.The appointment is at 0.4 FTE (2 days a week) and is available immediately until 31st July 2025.
- Research Fellows – ‘Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B (salary £38,357 – £41,005 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.’
About youCandidates must have a PhD or equivalent in a biological science subject. Applicants must have prior clinical trials and laboratory experience.
