The position is offered for 12 months, preferably starting on March 31, 2025, ā€ˇsubject to funding approval and may be extended contingent upon research performance.The position will involve research on the benefits, risks, and environmental/equity impacts of integrating AI and blockchain technologies into sustainable development agendas.Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Conduct critical multi-method research (qualitative and/or quantitative, field or text-based) related to the benefits, risks, and environmental/equity impacts of integrating AI and blockchain technologies into sustainable development agendas.
- Conduct research (qualitative and/or quantitative, field or text-based) based on applicants own research plan (some additional funding may be provided for fieldwork expenses related to this).
- Write numerous high-quality articles for publication in quality academic journals. These can be based on:
- The applicant’s doctoral dissertation.
- New research undertaken independently while contracted as a postdoctoral researcher.
- New research related to Dr. MacNeill’s existing research program in indigenous sustainable development Canada and/or Latin America.
The candidate must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to apply.
Postdocs are required to reside in Ontario for the duration of the position.Required Education:
- PhD in any Social Science OR a related field
Required Experience:
- Knowledge of tech-based development initiatives being spearheaded in Latin America, and their linkages to hemispheric and global political-economy, are of particular interest.
- Candidates with experience in other geographical areas and issues will also be considered but postdoctoral work will be primarily focused on the Americas region.
- Any methodological strength is acceptable (qualitative, quantitative, AI-based, community-embedded etc.) and a mix is preferred.
This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website.
