Associate Director, Research & Development (Virology and Immunology Diagnostics)

The Director of Research & Development will play a critical role in supporting the innovation, development, and commercialization of cutting-edge diagnostic products with a focus on virology and immunology. Reporting to the VP, R&D, this role will focus on the hands-on leadership of cross-functional teams, ensuring the successful execution of R&D initiatives and adherence to regulatory standards. The Director will also work closely with internal departments and external partners to achieve speed-to-market and maintain high scientific rigor.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with the VP, R&D to execute strategic R&D initiatives aligned with business and scientific objectives in virology and immunology diagnostics.Oversee and drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from proof-of-concept to commercialization, while maintaining quality and compliance standards.Manage R&D project timelines, budgets, and risk assessments, ensuring milestones are met efficiently.Lead and mentor cross-functional scientific teams, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.Provide technical oversight and guidance for experiments, including assay development, validation studies, and data analysis related to virology and immunology.Coordinate with external collaborators, such as contract research organizations (CROs) and technical consultants, under the guidance of the VP, R&D.Collaborate with the Quality and Regulatory teams to support regulatory submissions, including technical contributions to 510(k), CE Mark, and other global submissions.Support intellectual property development by contributing to patent filings and innovation management.Identify process improvements and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the R&D organization.Qualifications:MSc or PhD in virology, immunology, or life sciences (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields).10+ years of experience in diagnostic or IVD product development, with a proven track record in delivering successful products related to virology and immunology.Strong understanding of regulatory standards, including ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820, and related guidelines.Hands-on experience with diagnostic platforms (e.g., ELISA, electrochemiluminescence, multiplex assays) and laboratory methods related to virology and immunology.Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and mentor cross-functional R&D teams.Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects.Effective collaboration and communication skills to work across departments, including Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams.Problem-solving mindset with a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement.Why Join Us:Contribute to impactful healthcare innovations through virology and immunology diagnostic advancements. * Opportunities for professional growth and advancement in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
