Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS ) is a world leader in the research, design, and manufacturing of focal plane arrays and flight-based vision systems. Our Focal Plane Operations Process Engineering department provides world class semiconductor and focal plane array manufacturing processes in support of production and development products across multiple domains. We have an opportunity for a talented Diamond Point Turning Process Engineering.

The Focal Plane Process Engineering department at RVS supports semiconductor fabrication of challenging Electro-Optical applications in the Space, Tactical, Airborne, and Emerging markets. Seeking a Principal Process Engineer to support and maintain Diamond Point Turning (flycutting) processes. This position is to maintain and develop precision alignment, assembly, and machining processes to produce semiconductor chip stacks used in the manufacture of Infrared Focal Plane Arrays. Specific knowledge of the processes and materials used in Infrared Detector technology, including experience with compound semiconductors, small pitch interconnects, aerospace epoxies and Infrared Optical Coatings. Raytheon Vision Systems is a cross functional organization, and the ideal candidate will have a breadth of knowledge in the disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Semiconductor Process Engineering, Process Control, Precision Alignment and Materials Science..

The candidate should have technical proficiency in the manufacture of semiconductor components or microelectronics as well as proficiency and comfort in interfacing with multiple functions including Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality, Mechanical Design Engineering, Factory Management, Equipment Engineering and Process Engineering.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement flycutting processes to achieve high-precision surfaces on various Semiconductor materials.

  • Optimize existing flycutting processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of flycutting processes into manufacturing workflows.

  • Conduct regular process audits and implement corrective actions to maintain process stability and consistency.

  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) techniques to monitor and analyze process performance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to flycutting processes and equipment.

  • Stay current with industry advancements and emerging technologies in precision machining and flycutting.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel on flycutting processes and best practices

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a STEM degree in a related field and a minimum of 8 years’ experience of related experience. Or an advanced degree with 5 years of related experience.

  • Experience in precision machining and process engineering, with a focus on flycutting.

  • The Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government issued clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with principles of Focal Plane Array assembly, infrared detector technology and semiconductor physics

  • Knowledge of statistical process control and design of experiments

  • Equipment and controls system experience

  • Strong knowledge of materials science and machining principles.

  • Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software and CNC programming.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with a cleanroom work environment (Class 100)

  • Experience with industrial manufacturing equipment

  • Proficiency in engineering computing, including MATLAB, Python or other related language

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD – 224,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
