This full-time, permanent post available from 1 September 2025 but candidates interested in working part-time or with job-sharing arrangements will be considered.The role:The post of Lecturer in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting for screen(s), stage or other script formats including digital) will contribute to extending the research profile of this area at Exeter, secure funding for related research projects, and attract new students to study and gain industry-knowledge within this field.You will design a strategy for the delivery and development of scriptwriting (for stage and screen(s) at Exeter and this will be their primary focus: undergraduate and MA modules delivered will likely include Adaptation (EASF2510), Writing the Short Film (EAS3128) and Writing for the Screen (EASM122), and UG, PGT and PGR supervision will largely be conducted in this area. However, you will also be expected to work with colleagues in Creative Writing and English Literary Studies to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of a range of creative writing modules (including poetry and prose) in accordance with the Faculty’s education strategy.About youYou will have:

  • A PhD (complete or nearing completion) in a relevant area
  • An established profile as a screen or scriptwriter (in whatever format) with productions, publications, or outputs that indicate an active field of research, as well as relevant industry experience that can inform research-led teaching
  • Experience teaching scriptwriting and/or creative writing within an HE environment
  • A strong record in attracting funding for research in relevant area, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research in the field of scriptwriting for screen(s), stage or other script formats (including digital)
  • Enthusiasm for developing and delivering high quality undergraduate and MA programmes
  • Strong connections and potential for funded projects with business and community partners and involvement in projects which develop potential impact
  • An ability to teach a range of creative writing modules if required (including prose and poetry)
  • Fellow of HEA status or be willing to attend formal CPD relating to this
