DepartmentApplications are invited for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Dr Beth Bell’s research group in the Department of Education at the University of York. The Research Associate will work on a project funded by the Nuffield Foundation, entitled “Improving wellbeing-focused online media literacy in schools”. The project will explore the effectiveness of wellbeing-focused online media literacy interventions in English secondary schools byConducting a systematic review and meta-analysis of existing research to identify effective interventions and their componentsEngaging in thirty interviews with Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) teachers to understand their decision-making and identify any barriers to implementation, andWorking with RSHE teachers and curriculum resources developers to produce practical ‘what works’ guidance for teachers.The Department of Education is an open and friendly department, committed to excellence in research and teaching. Our research groups have a national and international reputation for the quality of their work, and the THE (2021) ranking of the Research Excellence Framework results placed the department 5th in the UK for research.RoleThe successful candidate will:
- Develop a robust systematic review protocol and execute its successful delivery
- Plan and conduct meta-analyses using appropriate statistical software
- Practice open science and ensure adherence to quality control procedures
- Conduct interviews and co-production workshops, and analyse qualitative data
- Lead/co-author academic papers for publication
- Foster and manage relationships with a diverse range of external stakeholders
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- PhD (or nearing completion) in psychology, education, or related area
- Experience of carrying out systematic reviews and meta-analyses
- Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies
- Proficient in the use of statistical software
