In its first phase the College is launching a range of Degree Accelerator Foundation and Pre-Masters programmes enabling entry into and through the College to an extensive range of programmes across all academic schools. In the longer term the College will open even more diverse opportunities for bridging routes online, on campus and with partners and help further nurture the global mobility of students.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo deliver and assess Foundation (SCQF L7) courses in the Global College, in the subject areas of Business Management with the ability to teach across Economics Accounting and Finance, and/or Psychology. We are looking for someone with a specialisation in Accounting and Finance. The role will also include academic administration and course development and enhancement. The role is a teaching position on the Edinburgh Campus and face to face.Work activities will vary according to the requirements of the job and individual areas of teaching responsibility, however general responsibilities are typically, but not restricted to, the following:
- Teaching up 18-20 contact hours per week excluding administrative duties, planning, and marking.
- Teaching through the delivery of lectures, tutorials, workshops, as well as setting and marking assessments.
- Supervising and mentoring Foundation level students.
- Further developing existing learning materials. This will include, but is not limited to, course notes, video podcasts and course assessments.
- Designing and developing teaching materials and new teaching methods, using scholarship to inform teaching where appropriate.
- Carrying out general academic administration, including participation on committees and exam boards, taking responsibility for key discipline-specific administration tasks and mentoring students.
- Undertaking continuous professional development (CPD) and participating in staff development activities.
Education, Qualifications and ExperienceEssential Criteria
- First degree in Business Management; Accounting and Finance; Economic, or Psychology
- Previous experience of teaching of SCQF Level 7 (Business Management, Economics, psychology, and/or Accounting & Finance)..
- Experience of teaching international students.
- Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Excellent team working, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to prepare clearly written learning and teaching materials
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Evidence of appropriate IT skills.
Desirable Criteria
- A higher degree (MSc/PhD) in a Business Management subject.
- Availability to take up the position Monday 21 April 2025
- Experience in technology enhanced learning, e.g. virtual learning environments such as Canvas
- A recognised teaching qualification (PG. Cert, CELTA/Trinity TESOL)
- Fellowship in Advance HE or working toward accreditation.
- Experience of developing/delivering innovative assessment practice
