Job purpose

The purpose of the Job is to assist the Peatland Restoration Officer in the delivery of the
Trust’s work in relation to peatland restoration on remote upland sites (only accessible on
foot). The role will include delivery of the following activities

  • Assisting in undertaking surveys to identify peatland condition and degradation features
  • Assisting in planning peatland restoration projects
  • Assisting with securing and managing contracts to carry out restoration work
  • Supporting with the installation of monitoring equipment
  • GIS mapping all survey results, intervention suggestions, access routes and other site
    information
  • Working with volunteer work parties in carrying out practical restoration or surveys
  • Any other task required of you to support the work of the team.

About the Elan Valley:

The Elan Valley is located in the Cambrian Mountains in Mid Wales in a unique landscape
combining remote hill land, isolated farmsteads, steep-sided wooded valleys, and an
extraordinary feat of Victorian engineering which brings clean water to Birmingham.

Weekly hours: Part-time (0.8 FTE) 30hrs /week

Based at: Elan Estate Office, Elan Village

Reports to: Projects and Partnerships Manager

Salary: £26,500 – £30,000 (pro rata)
