Job description
The role supports and leads translational cancer research, with a specific focus on tumor immunology and immunotherapies. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of novel immune-modulating treatment strategies by designing and executing experiments in both preclinical and clinically relevant models.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead in vivo murine studies involving immune modulation, tumor modeling, and therapeutic response assessment.
- Perform immune profiling and assist in interpreting tumor microenvironment dynamics.
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments related to cancer immunology, immunotherapy, and hyperthermia-based treatments.
- Conduct molecular and cellular assays, including flow cytometry, qPCR, and histological analysis.
- Prepare manuscripts and grant applications; present findings at lab meetings and scientific conferences.
- Maintain detailed records, manage project timelines, and ensure adherence to rigorous research standards.
- Familiarity with data analysis platforms such as FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, R, or similar tools is considered an asset.
The position reports to the principal scientist of the Giacomantonio Laboratory in Dalhousie’s Department of Pathology.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
- PhD in Immunology, Oncology, Pathology, or a closely related biomedical field.
- Extensive experience in cancer research, with a strong emphasis on immunotherapeutic strategies, the tumor microenvironment, or organoid-based models.
- Proficiency in murine tumor models, including animal handling and in vivo experimental techniques.
- Advanced technical skills in flow cytometry, genomics, histology, and related immunological assays.
- Proven track record of scientific writing, data presentation, and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research environment.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Salary Range/Pay Rate $55,000 – $70,000 annually
