Applications are invited for a Lecturer in Chemistry within the Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry (CEAC) Department, part of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS).
CEAC is internationally recognised for its thriving world-class research along with the quality of its graduates and record of graduate employability. The Department emphasises the close relationship between Chemical Engineering and Chemistry in both its teaching and research. Principal research areas are in Polymers, Advanced Materials, Catalysis and Bioenergy, encompassed within our two EAS Research Institutes; Aston Institute of Materials Research (AIMR) and the Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI). AIMR undertakes multidisciplinary cutting-edge research in biomaterials, polymers, inorganics, nanomaterials and bitumen. EBRI, with its own multi-million-pound premises on campus, focuses on biomass, bioenergy and catalysis research for a sustainable future.
You must hold a first degree in Chemistry and a PhD in a Chemistry-related field. You will participate fully in the teaching duties of the Department as well as in its research activity.
You can be in the early stages of your academic career but you must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and also evidence of high-quality research in chemistry-related areas with a clear ambition to develop an internationally recognised research activity.
Candidates with an excellent ability to teach Organic Chemistry at all levels are particularly sought.
