We are seeking to appoint five posts across the range of Reader/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer levels in the fields of Software Engineering (including Practical Software Delivery), Cybersecurity (ideally with a track record in applied Cybersecurity or with experience of industrial collaboration in the field), and Human Factors in Cybersecurity to join an expanding and collegiate team of computer scientists within the School of Computer Science & Digital Technologies in order to grow and reinforce research and teaching in these fields.

Within the School we deliver distinctive programmes at undergraduate and Masters levels that achieve some of the highest employability rates for CS graduates in the UK. We value impactful research and our expertise includes AI, robotics, machine learning, natural language processing, HCI, computing education, digital health, software engineering, cybersecurity, data science, and computer engineering, often spanning discipline boundaries within the context of a vibrant digitally-focused research strategy at College and University level.

The new Aston 2030 strategy will position the University at the cutting edge of digital transformation by focusing strategically on value creation and impact realisation at the interfaces between Health, Digital and Technology.  By establishing a new interdisciplinary Aston Digital Futures Institute (ADFI), to be launched during 2023-24, our ambition is to grow research capability and capacity in the Digital Futures space, particularly in the areas of AI in Health, Data Science and Bioinformatics, Gamification and Digital Society.

The University’s location is in the heart of the city of Birmingham, and within the city’s designated ‘Knowledge Quarter’, which will drive technological innovation in digital tech and health tech. It is therefore a particularly exciting time to join Computer Science at Aston.

You will have a PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Your teaching duties may include contributions to theory and practice-based modules at undergraduate and Masters levels, for both conventional on-campus and degree apprenticeship programmes. You will also be expected to make significant contributions to our research, including attracting PhD students and external research funding.
