In Canada, we can trace our history back over 110 years. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, our current investment programs are focused on the operated Surmont oil sands development in the Athabasca region of northeast Alberta and the liquids rich Montney unconventional play in northeast British Columbia. Description:ConocoPhillips Canada is recruiting for a Health, Safety and Assurance student within the Process Safety Management and Assurance team. This role allows the successful student to gain significant exposure to a variety of areas within Health & Safety, Process Safety and Environment (HSE), and the opportunity to work on impactful projects focused on Health & Safety and Process Safety Management Systems. This position is based out of Calgary, with the opportunity to build hands-on experience on field trips and at our field site facilities.

This position is an 8-12-month term, starting May 2025.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete ConocoPhillips on-boarding processes and safety training

  • Assist with the development and management of the Health, Safety and Environmental Management and Process Safety Management Systems.

  • Assist with the development of data management tools for the HSE and Process Safety Management teams

  • Review, standardize, and normalize large data sets for additional analysis, and interpretation to support long term HSE performance improvement.

  • Assist in the development and validation of HSE training programs and training matrix

  • Assist in the planning and development of events (i.e. safety stand down meetings, HSE campaigns, etc.)

  • Assist in preparing various monthly KPIs, monthly reports, statistics

  • Support HSE audits and assurance activities as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in a related Health and Safety Science, Engineering, or other relevant Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental degree / diploma.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale

  • Must be returning to study at a post-secondary institution following the work term

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude

  • Possess good communication and organizational skills

  • Previous experience in the oil and gas industry through summer or co-op experience
