This leadership role involves supporting the Head of Science in the management and development of the Science department. You will have the opportunity to teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with a specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics at Key Stage 5. As 2nd in Charge, you will assist in curriculum development, implement teaching strategies, and ensure high standards in student progress.   • Assist in the leadership and management of the Science department.
  • Teach Science across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to specialize in a chosen subject at KS5.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and development, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Lead by example, providing mentorship and support to staff and students alike.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities to engage students in the subject and enhance their learning experience.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Strong experience in teaching Science with a specialism in either Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
  • A formal teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Leadership experience within a Science department (preferred but not essential).
  • Clear DBS check and legal right to work in the UK.
