The objective of the assignment is to examine international standards and selected comparative experiences in 4-5 countries on the role of the prosecutor in safeguarding the right to a fair trial for defendants accused of particularly serious crimes, and, based on these finding, to provide recommendations for strengthening the legal framework and improving prosecutorial practice and the exercise of public prosecutions and supervision of judicial activities in Viet Nam, taking into account Vietnamese institutional characteristics, and judicial practice.
