Academic and Student Experience Coordinator

Swansea University

The College, Swansea University is a Joint Venture partnership between Swansea University and Navitas plc, a highly successful, decade-long partnership, founded originally as International College Wales, Swansea (ICWS). The College, Swansea University was launched in 2018 and, with the completion of a new academic building in October 2018 and dedicated student accommodation in January 2019, this marks a new phase in this relationship.

The College sits within the Swansea University brand and delivers a comprehensive portfolio of pathway programmes which lead to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees at Swansea University.

There are two Coordinators within the Academic and Student Experience team, with the job description covering all areas that both staff members will work on within their role. It is not expected that each individual will be working on all areas at one time, but each should have a good understanding of the other’s role, with Coordinators supporting each other during busy periods/periods of annual leave.

The College is seeking to appoint a talented, self-motivated and well organised individual who will help to lead on many areas of the academic student cycle. The role will be part of the Academic and Student Experience team and will be student focused, ensuring that the learning, teaching and assessment of students runs in a smooth manner each semester and that academic regulations are adhered to for all levels of study.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a passion for academic services and who has initiative and a willingness to challenge the norm. The successful candidate will be comfortable in leading academic services for The College including assessment and examination administration, the internal and external moderation processes, organising Examination Boards and liaising with team members regarding academic misconduct cases and extenuating circumstances. Data analysis will be a key part of the role, with candidates being comfortable manipulating raw data and making recommendations based on any trends identified. The College uses a number of systems and the Academic and Student Experience Coordinator will be expected to be happy to learn how each of these works and lead training for both staff and students on how these work.

Professionalism, flexibility, self-motivation and a determination to succeed are essential. Experience of dealing with students is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to show initiative and work to tight deadlines. Although the role is heavily based around academic services, it is a still student facing role and the post holder will be expected to undertake responsibilities related to the student experience including reception cover, live chat and Personal Tutor duties.
