Position Description
The Ingram School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University, is seeking applications for a full-time Academic Associate position with expertise in Mentorship. This is a 3-year contract with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be joining the School at a stimulating time of growth and energy with a recently enlarged number of education and research-focused faculty, major curricular revisions, and a physical space with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. Travel within the province of Quebec may be required.

Primary Responsibilities
Under the Direction of the Director of the Clinical Partnership Office (CPO), the successful candidate will be expected to fulfill the following duties:
- Assume responsibility for the onboarding and continuous education – in collaboration with course coordinators and program directors – of preceptors, preceptor supports, clinical instructors and circulating clinical instructors, providing a foundation of excellence in mentorship of nursing students;
- Develop partnerships with various stakeholders, including health care organizations, Community-Based organizations and indigenous health organizations;
- Act as a subject matter expert on all matters related to clinical supervisors and mentorship of nursing students;
- Determine the clinical education learning needs of various nurses’ clinicians and develop continuing education programs to meet those needs;
- Support best practice for preceptorship with our partners; provide ongoing support, feedback and educational development opportunities;
- Collaborate with the Director of the Clinical Partnership Office, and the CPO Academic Coordinators on various mandates;
- Lead the recruitment process of all clinical placements for ISoN;
- Engage with various external partners/organizations in discussions related to the development of excellence in clinical education;
- Ensures that Strength-Based Nursing in Healthcare is put into practice for the students during clinical placement by supporting its application by preceptors, clinical instructors and supervisors;
- Provide support for the operations of the clinical placement cycle (replace other academic associates in their absences);
- Engage in clinical nursing education relevant forums.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Minimum requirements for consideration are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing;
- Masters’ degree in a relevant field such as, Nursing, Education, or Administration;
- Active membership with the OIIQ;
- Experience related to nursing clinical education;
- Clinical placements recruitment experience preferred;
- Excellent verbal and written English and strong verbal and written French.
- A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusiveness is expected.
