Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Located within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Dialogue McGill project, funded by Health Canada since 2004 under the Official Languages Health Program, is focused on initiatives to build and maintain the capacity of bilingual health and social services professionals in Quebec to improve health care access for Canadian official language minority communities. Dialogue McGill’s initiatives fall under three primary programs: Language Training, Recruitment and Retention, Research and Performance Evaluation.Under the supervision of Professor Carmen Loiselle, the Academic Associate will contribute to the academic mission of Dialogue McGill’s Language Training Program that provides online language courses and resources tailored to the needs of health and social services professionals and students. The candidate will also actively contribute to placement tests evaluation, conversation course syllabi and program content revisions, academic program improvements and performance evaluation activities.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Onboards, trains and supports newly recruited course lecturers for the English virtual face-to-face conversation course sections;
  • Manages the course allocation of course lecturers (as per collective agreement);
  • Evaluates the English fluency placement tests and reviews results to ensure students are placed in the correct course level;
  • Reviews and updates the English online course content on a regular basis;
  • Reviews the English conversation course syllabi and content developed by course lecturers for the virtual face-to-face classes;
  • Chairs pedagogical debrief sessions with course lecturers and monitors to ensure a shared understanding of the English virtual face-to-face conversation course learning objectives;
  • Works closely with Dialogue McGill’s Research Program on the performance evaluation activities of the English online courses and virtual face-to-face conversation courses;
  • Meets with course lecturers to review the performance evaluation activities and follows up with course lecturers to address performance in teaching and quality of material prepared;
  • Reviews periodic and annual program’s performance reports requested by Dialogue McGill’s funding sponsor;
  • Participates in conferences that promote online learning.

Qualifications and Education requirements

  • Masters’ degree in second language education and experience related to teaching English as a second language;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and French;
  • Prior experience in online learning is an asset;

Additional Experience and Qualifications considered an asset

  • Experience supervising and mentoring instructional staff;
  • Experience in curriculum development;
  • Experience in administering academic programs;
