Summary:The (CMI) at wishes to recruit three Academic Fellows in AI (Grade 7).The CMI is a strategic initiative supported by a £3.64m investment, dedicated to the transformation and acceleration of research, innovation, and teaching on and with AI.As an Academic Fellow in AI you will conduct personal research within the Centre for Machine Intelligence (CMI), working in one of three areas: AI and In/equality; AI for Health; or, AI for Sustainability and Resilience.You will work closely with an Academic Theme Lead for the CMI in one of its overarching themes: Human-Centric AI; AI-Enabled Research; AI for Engineering and Manufacturing and, Robotics and Autonomous Systems. You will have a background in research on and around AI, and experience of interdisciplinary collaboration, especially with STEM disciplines.During your three-year Fellowship you will work with the other CMI Fellows, the CMI Theme Leads and the Centre Director to ensure that the CMI is at the forefront of AI research, innovation, and impact, nationally and internationally. In addition, you will deliver some teaching with an expectation of progression to Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) at the conclusion of your Fellowship, within an appropriate School, subject to completion of agreed objectives.Each fellow will receive a generous start-up package for travel and equipment.We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. AI Futures Grants provide financial support to reimburse relocation costs such as visa fees, the immigration health surcharge and travel/subsistence expenses. Successful candidates for this role may be able to get up to £10,000 to meet relocation costs, subject to terms and conditions, in addition to University of Sheffield relocation support.£37,099 to £45,585 per annum. Potential to progress to £49,794 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.
