Reporting to the Head of Library Systems, Skills, Collections and Archives, the Academic Liaison Manager will lead the team of Academic Librarians in four areas of activity: delivering embedded information skills support to students and staff within the University’s three Faculties; supporting the development of the library collections and enabling the integration of resources into learning and teaching; ensuring effective liaison between the library and the University’s Faculties, Professional Services and Academic Partnerships, including involvement in quality assurance events and processes; and delivering interventions and activities to support community and external engagement and the Access and Participation Plan. The Academic Librarian team consists of five Academic Librarians aligned to subject groupings, a Learning Support Specialist and an Academic Services Support Assistant.The Academic Liaison Manager post is a based at the University’s Waterside Campus. Working on site is required according to business and student needs, and with a minimum of three days per week on site. Within this, we operate Smarter Working, so that you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.About youThe successful candidate will have a qualification in library/information science and experience of working in learning support, academic libraries or academic IT within HE or FE. They should have knowledge of recent trends in the support of learning and teaching, information skills and collection development, as well as being an experienced teacher or trainer.They will also be digitally literate, with good written and verbal communication skills, and with experience of staff leadership and/or management.QualificationsEssential:

  • Degree 2i or above
  • Professional qualification in library or information work

Desirable:

  • Higher degree
  • Recognised member of relevant professional body e.g. CILIP, HEA Academy/Advance-HE

DepartmentLibrary, Learning and Student Services (LLSS) consists of the University Library and the areas of Learning Technology, Learning and Teaching Enhancement, and Student Services. The University Library provides adaptable and IT rich learning environments, with access to print and online resources, alongside expert support in finding information. Learning and Teaching Enhancement provides flexible opportunities for students to develop a broad range of academic skills, while Learning Technology manage NILE, the University’s virtual learning environment, and support the use of technology in learning and teaching.
