Academic Mentor – Islington Secondary School – ASAP startQ- Do you have a 1st Class/ 2:1 degree from a top University?Q- Are you eager to pass along your knowledge to the next generation as an Academic Mentor?Q- Are you considering pursuing a career in teaching?If so, this Academic Mentor position could be the ideal role for you.We are currently looking for graduate Mentors and undergraduate Mentors to start with immediate effect.This post is extremely important to the subject outcomes of our Secondary School in Islington and its continuing success. We are looking for an innovative and forward-looking individual who can inspire students and contribute fully to a very active and hardworking team.Salary: £85-£100 per dayHours: 5 days a week, term time only (08.30 am – 4.30 pm)Start Date: ASAP 2024General duties

• Creating and delivering session plans for the students
• Assessing students on their existing ability in a subject area
• Assessing the student’s level of progress and identifying areas for improvement
• Creating a schedule for additional education and development
• Providing mock examinations or tests
• Providing support during their examinations
• Reviewing homework
• Communicating with parents/guardians with students’ progress
• Keep up-to-date on the current curriculum and trends
• Maintaining excellent knowledge of the subject area

Person Specification

• Good knowledge and qualifications in the subject area being taught – Degree preferable
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to motivate students to study
• Good organisational skills
• Patience and understanding
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles
• Ability to supervise students and be a role model
• Ability to plan and deliver sessions
