Salary: £12.82 per hour

Contract: Full-time (Part-time can also be arranged for the right candidate)GSL Education are thrilled to present an excellent opportunity for a passionate and reliable Academic Support Assistant to join a dynamic mainstream primary school in Christchurch. We welcome applications from both full-time and part-time candidates, especially university students looking to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive educational environment.About the Role:As an Academic Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in helping students achieve academic success through tailored classroom and small-group support. You’ll assist in creating inclusive learning experiences, removing barriers to engagement, and ensuring that each learner receives the individualised attention they need to thrive within a busy primary school setting.Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic assistance to students across a range of subjects, supporting lesson delivery and revision activities.
• Work with students who require additional academic support due to mild learning difficulties, language barriers, or confidence issues.
• Assist teachers with classroom organisation and lesson preparation where needed.
• Monitor pupil progress, engagement, and provide feedback to staff to adjust support strategies.
• Help foster a positive, encouraging, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Support the development of learners’ independent study and organisational skills.
• Promote and maintain high standards of behaviour and respect in line with school policy.
• Ensure the well-being and safeguarding of all pupils under your care.

Job Requirements:

• Experience working with young people in educational or similar settings is highly valued.
• A strong academic background and confidence supporting core primary subjects.
• Effective communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to varying student needs.
• A genuine passion for education and pupil development.
• Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
