We advance the careers of future researchers, teachers, professionals, and policymakers as active and contributing citizens.PositionThe Faculty of Education invites applications for multiple part-time Academic Teaching Staff to teach the following courses in the Fall 2024 term. These courses are part of the Teacher Education North program, located in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Please indicate which course(s) you are applying to teach in your cover letter.EDEL 321 Introduction to Curriculum and Pedagogy in Elementary School Physical EducationThis course is designed to prepare students to teach Physical Education effectively in an elementary school setting. The goals to this end integrate understanding of child development, physical education, health, curriculum and pedagogy and making curricula links.EDEL 335 Curriculum and Pedagogy in Elementary School Social StudiesThis course provides an introduction to teaching and learning of Social Studies education in Elementary schools. The focus will be on using curriculum, instructional strategies, planning, assessment, and resources to meet student needs through social studies.Minimum QualificationsThe successful applicant will hold a Master’s Degree (minimum, PhD preferred) in Education with at least one graduate course in the specific curricular subject area, or leadership experience in the subject area at the K-9 level in a school district. They will also demonstrate a commitment to the University’s Indigenous initiatives, and principles of equity, diversity, and inclusivity.Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • A strong K-12 classroom teaching background and demonstrated teaching excellence.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate education courses, including serving as a teaching assistant.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Familiarity and facility with online teaching platforms such as Moodle, D2L, etc.
