About usThe Academic Communication Centre (ACC), within the Centre for Languages and International Education, supports UCL students across faculties and levels of study in developing their academic language and literacies. We work in close collaboration with UCL faculties to support students in the context of their studies.About the roleApplications are invited for an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) post at the UCL Academic Communication Centre (ACC).
The post is part-time (0.8FTE, 29.2h/week). The contract offered is open-ended. Salary brackets – £42,099-£50,585 including London Allowance pro rata per annum.Associate Lecturers provide up to 15 contact hours per week, which includes face-to-face teaching, online teaching and online tutorials. They provide high quality teaching to develop students’ academic language, literacies and autonomy. Associate Lecturers also work collaboratively with fellow ACC lecturers on course, workshop and materials design, as well as with subject lecturers to develop support for students embedded in their degree programmes.On a 0.8FTE contract, the successful applicant will teach up to 480 hours per academic year; (up to 15 hours per week) plus preparation, online engagement, feedback and marking, liaising with colleagues, communicating regularly with students, record keeping and meetings. The weekly / termly schedule to be agreed in liaison with the ACC Heads.About youThe post-holder will have expertise and experience in supporting students’ academic communication as well as excellent knowledge of teaching and learning in higher education, and the associated pedagogies, preferably within the STEM disciplines.Applicants must have: a graduate degree, preferably in an EAP/academic literacies-related subject area and a DELTA (or equivalent) teaching qualification; experience of planning, developing and delivering EAP instruction to students at all levels of HE study, in various group sizes and also one-to-one, via both face-to-face and online classes.Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK.Application ProcessTo see a full job description and person specification and to apply for the vacancy please click on the ‘Apply’ button.Please ensure you attach your CV and copies of qualifications.
