Accounts Receivable Clerk in Vancouver, British Columbia

Job Title: Accounts Receivable ClerkResponsibilities

  • Respond to a variety of requests by telephone, email, written correspondence, and in-person inquiries from employees and the general public regarding account information, policies, and procedures.

  • Process payments, refunds, and various adjustments to accounts. Update financial information in the integrated accounting system and ensure all information is correctly entered and balanced on a timely basis.

  • Interpret, implement, and advise on all policies and procedures related to refunds, payments, non-cash payment options etc.

  • Liaise with other accounting staff, departments, government representatives, First Nations bands, and other external agencies to obtain information.

  • Identify and refer difficult matters requiring interpretation to the Supervisor, Accounts Receivable or delegate.

  • Process wire refunds and all associated paperwork.

  • Process credit card payments for third-party billings and mail receipts to the appropriate parties.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of accounts receivable, accounting, or bookkeeping experience.

  • Prior customer service experience, particularly in retail, hospitality, or as a bank teller.

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.

  • Experience using the Banner accounting system.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Public sector experience, especially in higher education.

  • Experience with Banner software.

  • Patient demeanor, especially when dealing with students who may have problems.

  • Ability to ask questions when needed.

  • Open communication skills, able to share problems and ask for help.

  • Personable and approachable.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM with an hour lunch break (or 30 minutes if preferred), totaling a 35-hour workweek. The dress code is business casual. The workplace is transit accessible, and paid parking is available on-site.
