– Application Deadline: March 2, 2025 –Every person in our community has the right to safe, affordable, quality housing and to live with dignity and as much independence and choice as possible.As a member of the Supportive Shared Living team, you will be supporting individuals who experience addictions and/or mental health concerns to live in the community. By providing intermittent daily supports on-site, your team will be at the ready to provide support and intervention, when clients need it most. This approach ultimately supports tenants with meal support, grocery shopping, support around appointment reminders, and goal planning. This program affords 3 to 4 people to live together in a shared home in the community, sharing the cooking and chore responsibilities with staff guidance and support.This position will provide primary support for Karen’s Place, a transitional home for women over the age of 50 who are experiencing homelessness. The successful candidate will spend a portion of their day supporting at Karen’s Place and the remainder of their day supporting other Women’s Services programs with their programing/groups at locations such as My Sisters’ Place, Nicole’s Choice and Holly’s House.Consider revitalizing your career and making a difference in your community by joining our team!WHAT WE’RE OFFERING:

• What you’ll be making – Starting rate for this role is $26.74 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($29.57 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):

• Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
• Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($33.90 per hour for non-regulated, and $36.71 per hour for regulated)
• For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
• When you’ll work – 70 hours over a two-week period; Monday-Friday 9am-4pm
• Your benefits will be – After a 90-day waiting period, will be enrolled in extended healthcare benefits
• Your pension plan –Immediately enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

• Support and assist clients in activities which support the achievement of their individualized rehabilitation plans
• Follow-up in assisting or facilitating daily and weekly household responsibilities not completed during the day
• Assist and coaches in the learning and management/achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene and daily chores
• Offer individual, one-on-one support when necessary
• Complete safety checks of all houses by midnight using cameras as required
• Every two hours starting at midnight and ending at 04:00 hours conduct a complete walk through of all four floors of the house to ensure a safe and healthy environment
• Address and resolve any nightly issues as per organization policy and procedure manual when possible
• Photocopy all documents, forms etc. which require replenishment; clean office weekly
• Make decisions with team concerning operations of the program and policies of the organization
• Ensure effective communication with Director, Manager, fellow staff and external treatment teams concerning participant’s progress.
• Complete assigned record keeping and documentation
• When possible, attend two weekly staff meetings per month plus relevant seminars and training sessions
• Identify and promote conflict resolution, and inform management of all emergency situations concerning participants, staff, and property
• Maintain a safe living environment for participants; including following the fire plan and conducting room checks as needed
• Complete electronic documentation related to participants, updating the Common Client Record (CCR) each shift and other documentation as necessary
• Clean staff bathrooms once per week
• Collaborate with other staff in developing and facilitating therapeutic or educational group/programming
• Other duties as required

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY:Police Vulnerable Sector Check RequirementsSuccessful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.We require the following qualifications:

• Only female applicants will be considered due to a bona fide occupational requirement of this position and the Karen’s Place program
• Minimum University/college degree or diploma in the social science field (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
• Ontario Driver’s Licence, access to a vehicle and insurance adequate for transporting clients
• Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly

We prefer the following qualifications:

• One year of work experience in the mental health or addictions field
• Experience working in a residential supportive housing environment
• Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
• Knowledge of psychiatric medications
• Knowledge of community resources
• Knowledge of computerized documentation methods
• Health and safety knowledge
• Crisis intervention and prevention
• Applied Suicide Interventions Skills and Training
• Knowledge of safe food handling procedures
• First Aid and CPR
