Ivy Tech Community College
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Major Responsibilities:
- Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
- Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
- Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction. Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
- A qualified faculty member in anatomy and physiology meets the discipline standard through one of two routes:
1. Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Anatomy /biological science, or
2. Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in Anatomy and Physiology courses.
3. Conducts all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one’s work.
4. Able to teach APHY 101 (Anatomy and Physiology I), and APHY 102 (Anatomy and Physiology II).A qualified faculty member in fine arts meets all three of the following criteria:
- Possesses an earned bachelor or higher degree in fine arts, or related field, from a regionally accredited institution; and
- Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program and/or course being taught; and
Two of the following:
- A portfolio that demonstrates significant involvement as a practicing artist or designer; or Professional certification in the field; or
- Three years directly related work and exhibition experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching or evidence of the potential for excellence in teaching.
- Teaching experience relevant to lower division college Anatomy & Physiology courses.
