What we’re looking for
The role requires especially good communication skills, an ability to demonstrate how you can adapt your communication to different individuals dependant on each scenario you encounter. We would need the applicant with training, to be able to maintain timely record keeping and navigate between digital systems to seek and provide discharge updates. The role would be expected to support others to excel, this often requires an awareness of system pressures, whilst equally being approachable and sensitive to personal circumstances. As a supervisor for other employees we would be seeking an individual who is kind, reliable and trustworthy who would still able to apply the trust policies in a diplomatic way supporting the principles of the trust to achieve great outcomes for patients.
In addition, we are seeking someone who will be able to co-ordinate and streamline administrative processes to ensure consistent and effective administration service is always maintained. Implement standard operating procedures for the team and propose changes to operational practices to demonstrate improvements in services.
What you’ll do
As an Advanced Discharge Officer & Admin Team lead you will have responsibility for specific tasks such as ensuring the electronic records reflect an accurate pathway for each patient in the trust, submitting daily cancellation reports where discharge plans have been cancelled and allocating which discharge officers are required to cover relevant ward areas. You will also line manage a small number of discharge officers and be supported to develop skills to aid the team to grow in their knowledge and skill base, opportunities to learn new information and provide/cascade training would be welcomed. The successful applicant would also be responsible for oversight of certain wards to maximise organisational flow of patients and to seek out opportunities to promote safe patient care, this sometimes requires you to draw upon problem solving skills, initiative and negotiation. The role is often fast paced but incredibly rewarding. The post holder would also play a key role in supporting the department leads with data collection and would also acquire opportunities to lead and support in recruitment as required.
