Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityPathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) is a complex department, with multiple divisions and services. Reporting to the Administrative Director and the Department Head, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the Department Head by effectively coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Department Head’s office. The position coordinates all administrative activities, establishes administrative procedures and guidelines and acts as a liaison with other clerical support within the portfolio, Dalhousie, and across the health authority. This position works closely with the Administrative Directors Administrative Assistant, as these two positions will cover both offices as required (e.g. vacations). The Administrative Assistant participates on committees or working groups as assigned.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Grade 12 plus post-secondary diploma in a recognized office administration, business administration or secretarial program is required
- Undergraduate degree is an asset
- Minimum of five (5) progressively responsible experience, providing administrative support and office coordination at the executive management level
- Previous administrative experience in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine preferred
- Previous experience within other healthcare settings an asset
- Knowledge of PLM, its policies and procedures, as well a general knowledge of institutional policies and procedures
- Must possess considerable organization and time management skills necessary to assist in management of administrative documents which are required for completion on an ongoing basis
- Demonstrated initiative, ability to set priorities to meet demanding timelines and work independently
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure without sacrificing work standards
- Must demonstrate strong communication skills and professional demeanor
- Works effectively during periods of high activity and with varying personality styles and tasks
- Must have proficient and accurate keyboarding skills – 60 wpm
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Lync), SAP and other software
- Knowledge of standards for documentation, experience in preparation of formal documents, including letters, memorandums, reports and presentations
- The incumbent maintains an awareness of internal and external issues that may impact on the department/organization
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
