Job Description:UE05: £27,979.00 – £32,332.00 Per Annum.CMVM / CMVM Admissions & Recruitment / College Office.Open Ended Contract – Permanent.Full Time – 35 Hours Per Week.We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Admissions Officer to join our Admissions and Recruitment team. The office is responsible for the administrative management of Undergraduate and Postgraduate admissions to the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM). This role is responsible for the administrative management of postgraduate admissions to the College of Medicine, ensuring efficient and effective administration of the admissions cycle. The post-holder will provide customer-focused admissions service to postgraduate applicants and enquirers in the College and promote admissions procedures that are fair, transparent, efficient, and in accordance with University policy, as well as planning and anticipate provide a professional, effective customer-focused admissions service to postgraduate applicants and enquirers in the College, and to promote admissions procedures that are fair, transparent, efficient, and in accordance with University policy, as well as planning and anticipating the workflow of the team.The College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine is currently undergoing a period of modernisation, and aspects of this role may evolve in line with the developing future vision for the College. This is a particularly exciting time to join the team, and help contribute to the realisation of that vision.This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and we are open to considering flexible working patterns. Under current arrangements, the post-holder may work fully on-campus or may choose to operate in a hybrid on-campus/off-campus working mode. As a minimum, the post-holder is expected to work 40% of their working hours on-campus and will be expected to attend other on-campus meetings and events as required.The Opportunity:You will be part of a small team in a busy, lively office admitting suitably qualified applicants to the College. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Admissions Officer-PG focus, CMVM Admissions and Recruitment Manager and other team members within admissions as well as others within the College, wider University and the NHS, to ensure a high-quality applicant experience and that the student number targets for the programme are realised.The successful applicant will be efficient and customer-focused, with a proven ability to plan, prioritise and work using their own initiative and judgement to ensure that deadlines are met and have excellent communication skills and IT skills (particularly of the MS Office package).Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Educated to Higher level or equivalent (Desirable).
  • Excellent communication (written & oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an office environment, ideally where there was as a high level of client contact (Desirable).
  • Ability to sustain a high standard of performance under pressure and when working to deadlines

Professor David Argyle is the Head of College, the only conjoint Medical and Veterinary Medical School in the UK. The College employs over 3000 academic and support staff. The College has two Schools, the Edinburgh Medical School comprising three Deaneries; Biomedical Sciences; Molecular Genetic and Population Health Sciences and Clinical Sciences and the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.The undergraduate medicine teaching programme in the College enjoys a high reputation nationally and internationally, with over 1,300 students enrolled on the MBChB and Intercalated courses and nearly 1000 on the Veterinary Sciences BVS and related programmes.
