An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Advanced Stroke Dietitian at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT).At LUHFT, the £1.5 million purpose-built Stroke Emergency Assessment Centre (SEAC) on the Aintree site, opened in 2023. It is the first of its kind in the UK and the reorganisation of stroke services into the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) model to has been shown to enable timely treatment, specialised and more efficient care to improve patient outcomes.The post holder will be based at Aintree Hospital. The Dietitian will deliver specialist evidence-based care, work closely with the MDT, be involved in complex feeding decisions, lead on service development and supervise junior staff members and students.The trust also has a Nutrition Team for those with complex nutritional needs.We welcome applicants who are passionate and enthusiastic about leading the stroke dietetic service. This post is open to experienced band 6 staff wanting to take the next step in their career progression or those already working at a senior level wanting a new challenge. We support in-service training, leadership development and are supportive in creating opportunities for you to develop in your role. We have Band 7 peer support meetings, local Dietetic meetings and contribute to the wider trust Nutrition Collaborative and catering projects.Main duties of the jobTo lead on the delivery of a dietetic service to stroke patients at Aintree Hospital. This will involve direct clinical contacts across the hyperacute and acute stroke units. There will be opportunity to be involved in the early supported discharge service as well. You will be working closely with the well-supported MDT to ensure high quality patient-centred care.Experience of MDT working, enteral and oral nutrition support in the acute setting is essential.You will be involved in supervising others, so good communication and leadership skills are required.You will have the opportunity to develop the role further and adapt and innovate to ensure high quality service delivery. This role provides an opportunity for audit and service development.
