Applications are invited for an AHRC CDA doctoral studentship offered by the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, to start in October 2025.The studentship will be based in the Department of Architecture. The successful applicant will work on a collaborative project co-led by Professor Emily So ( ), University of Cambridge and Dr. Juliet Mian, co-supervisor, and Fellow, Infrastructure Resilience & Global Resilience Skills Leader at Arup. Additional supervision is possible from Professor Alan Blackwell, Department of Computer Science.This Collaborative Doctoral Award would give you the opportunity to shape the UK’s climate adaptation programme. Partnering with Arup and the EA in their recently launched FENS2100+ project, you will gain privileged insights from practitioners and the local communities at risk and pilot their research-led designs during their PhD. The aim of this project is to explore and propose methods of communication at a system and landscape level for floods and other risks in the UK.Further details of the project and its aims can be found on the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC DTP website:Funding:The DTP studentships will provide an annual maintenance grant to cover living costs (£19,237 stipend + £600 CDA allowance pa at current rates) and university tuition fees at home fee level.
