We work together with our ownership, communities, stakeholders and industry partners to strengthen Indigenous employee relationships.Job PurposeThe Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is responsible for completing day-to-day maintenance assignments on ATR aircraft as directed by Crew Supervisor t, in accordance with company and Transport Canada-approved policies, procedures and regulatory standards. This role involves performing routine and non-routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on ATR aircraft to ensure their safe and efficient operation.Primary Responsibilities (ATR Focused)

  • Complete each task and associated maintenance documentation for the ATR Aircraft in an appropriate, safe, and timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment.
  • Inspect and check components for clearance tolerances, proper installation, and operation.
  • Maintain close communication with senior maintenance personnel to ensure that job processes and methodologies are understood and adhered to.
  • Review aircraft status and advise management of any potential downtime that impacts flight scheduling.
  • Perform daily inspections, pre-flight, post-flight, and quality control activities to ensure aircraft airworthiness and on-time departures.
  • Ensure that approved equipment and materials used by aircraft maintenance engineers and apprentices are utilized appropriately, and a high standard of workmanship is maintained.
  • Ensure that all components installed on aircraft are pre-approved and properly certified.
  • Assist in keeping the maintenance office, hangar, and shop areas clean and ensure equipment is appropriately stored/returned after tasks are completed.

  • Maintain current knowledge of all Transport Canada rules, regulations and policies.
  • Participate in approved training and special projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety programs to promote an incident and injury free culture.

QualificationsTypically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum ten years’ progressive AME experience with an M2 license, or a minimum three to five years’ progressive experience with an M1 license.Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:

  • Ability to perform detailed inspections and maintenance tasks specific to ATR aircraft.
  • Strong knowledge of ATR aircraft systems, engines, and components.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ATR aircraft (ATR 42/72 or similar models)
  • Ability to hold and maintain a class 5 valid driver’s license,
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Sound problem solving, decision-making, analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects and tasks and execute effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Strong leadership skills and a hands-on, self-motivated, and demonstrated positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications and software specific to company operations.
  • Ability to support, strengthen and enhance safety initiatives.

  • Specialized aviation diagnostic, inspection, and repair tools.
  • Ground support equipment.
  • Standard office and telecommunications equipment.

Typical Physical and Cognitive Demands

  • The majority of the work is completed in an indoor or outdoor hangar environment and on elevated workstations.
  • Ability to work long, sometimes irregular hours.
  • Ability to lift 50 Pounds.
  • Able to prioritize and organize objectives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Must quickly adapt to changing assignments.
  • Required to act professionally and use mature judgment.
  • Ground and/or air travel required.
  • Work a variety of scheduled shifts as assigned to accommodate maintenance requirements.
