DescriptionThe University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Tuberculosis Clinician Researcher to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Infectious Diseases with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and have training and/or experience research. Individuals interested in the education of trainees and a strong interest in research are encouraged to apply.Key accountabilities of the Tuberculosis Clinician Researcher will include, but will not be limited to inpatient and outpatient care of patient with active and latent tuberculosis, including an equitable portion of after-hours and weekend call. Clinical teaching of students and residents while on clinical services is an expectation. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program in the area of tuberculosis, dedicating at least 40-50% effort to research. Other areas of clinical interest, including nontuberculous mycobacterial infections, may be considered.The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Medicine & Health Services Program (AMHSP).
