The post is suitable for a clinical trainee with a cardiology background who wishes to gain experience in the clinical condition, cardiac imaging, and clinical and translational research. There will scope for maintaining clinical work with sessions in CMR and weekly amyloidosis clinics. The Centre maintains a longstanding high profile clinical and basic science research programme and serves as the national referral centre for patients with amyloidosis and inherited periodic fever (auto-inflammatory) syndromes. http://www.ucl.ac.uk/medicine/amyloidosis.Main duties of the jobAmyloidosis is a multi-system disease that encompasses many specialities. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of the clinical services within the Centre (NAC and Cardiac MRI Department) and will contribute to the centre’s clinical research program. The post holder will have ample opportunity to join/develop research relevant to their interests including areas of existing research such as cardiac imaging (echocardiography, MRI, CPET), proteomics, genetics, and clinical trials in amyloidosis. This will be under the guidance and supervision of senior academic staff. The position is available for 3 years from 1st May 2025 and the postholder is encouraged to register for a PhD at UCL as part of the role, with annual registration fees to be funded by the Centre.Working for our organisationThe Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust has around 900 beds on its Hampstead site and about 10,000 people are employed across the Trust.As well as services for local people, such as accident and emergency service, and all branches of surgery and medicine, the trust is renowned for a large number of specialist services. These include, amongst others, haemophilia, solid organ transplantation, nephrology and hepatology, HIV and infectious diseases, plastic surgery, immunology, , ENT surgery and audiological medicine, amyloidosis and scleroderma. The Royal Free’s research priorities in collaboration with the medical school are translational and clinical research underpinned by a strong basic science.   • Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values

Education & professional QualificationsEssential criteria

  • Possession of MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • Eligibility to work in the UK by January 2024
  • Possession of GMC registration and a licence to practice at the time of appointment and up to date fitness to practice by October 2019
  • Full MRCP(UK) or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Possession of a current ALS certification or equivalent
  • Possession of a teaching qualification

ExperienceEssential criteria

  • Sufficient knowledge base to act at specialist registrar level (ST3+) equivalent
  • Experince in the training of junior medical staff, including the teaching of practical procedures
  • Haematology or other relevant experience

Skills and aptitudesEssential criteria

  • Ability to work as part of and lead a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of the principles of clinical governance, patient safety, clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrable IT skills

Desirable criteria

  • Understanding of research methodology and evidence based practice
