The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about problem solving, solutions oriented and comfortable dealing with heavy volume, tight deadlines and complex transactions. You must be a self-starter who works well under pressure. You must have strong interpersonal and business relationship skills and enjoy working across Core Services and the Investment Departments.Role-Specific AccountabilitiesTrade Life Cycle Expertise
- Preparing trade tickets and accounting entries by ensuring figures agree with transacted amounts, confirming completeness of supporting documentation and making sure that appropriate authorizations are in place
- Partnering with colleagues from the Investment Departments, Structuring and Business Management, Tax, and Treasury to successfully close and fund Investment transactions by proactively identifying and resolving operational issues
- Assisting in the quarterly valuation preparation and ensure valuation adjustments are accurately recorded
- Help in identifying irregular activities and issues and assist the Associate or Manager determine corrective actions
- Maintain an ongoing effective working relationship with internal investment staff and external Fund Managers to ensure issues are discussed and resolved, financial controls and reporting requirements are met. This will mostly be done through the monitoring of a group inbox
Investment Accounting & Reporting
- Ensuring timely completion and accuracy of daily transactions and holdings reconciliations
- Tracking the receipt of quarterly financial statements, tax statements and other documents as requested
- Assist in providing data for financial statements, note disclosures and management reports while ensuring their accuracy and completeness
- Recording Capital Call and Distribution transactions in the accounting software
Process Improvement
- Ensuring process documentation is kept up to date for existing procedures
- Continually strive for operational excellence by seeking ways to streamline processes and create operational efficiencies
- Prioritizing workload so that all deadlines are met
- Working on special projects and other duties as assigned
QualificationsQualifications
- University degree in Finance, Commerce, or other relevant discipline
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a related field
- Comfortable with working on ambiguous and/or new tasks independently
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Able to apply established processes and workflows to new tasks
- Good understanding of private equity funds is an asset
- Advanced Excel skills and comfortable learning new systems
- Team player who enjoys working in a high performing culture and is open to evolving and changing priorities
- Capable of contributing to cross department projects and workstreams
- Willingness to actively contribute to a positive and highly effective team culture
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of professionalism
- Solid prioritization and organizations skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Self-starter, flexible and adaptable
