SCOPE OF WORK AND EXPECTED DELIVERABLES
The implementing organisation will design and deliver a structured animation support programme for approximately 20 independent animators. The programme must combine technical training, creative development, mentorship, and market access activities that advance high-quality African storytelling in animation.
Task 1: Programme Design and Participant Selection
- Develop a detailed implementation plan, curriculum, and workflow for the animation programme.
- Design and execute a transparent call for applications targeting independent animators who demonstrate creative potential and commitment to African storytelling.
- Establish clear eligibility and selection criteria that balance inclusion, artistic originality, and technical competence.
- Convene a selection panel (in consultation with UNDP) to review applications and select 20 participants.
Deliverables:
- Inception and programme design report, including curriculum and selection process.
- Final participant list and selection report with diversity and inclusion data.
Task 2: Capacity Building and Creative Development
· Deliver a structured capacity-building programme combining creative, technical, and entrepreneurial components.
· The training should cover:
o Animation production pipelines (2D, 3D, and hybrid techniques).
o Story development and visual storytelling rooted in African cultures, traditions, and lived experiences.
o Business modelling, intellectual property management, and monetisation of creative work.
· Pair participants with experienced mentors and industry professionals to provide creative and technical guidance throughout the production cycle.
· Support each participant to conceptualise, script, and produce a one-minute short animation that reflects an African story, theme, or cultural perspective.
· Provide targeted production support, including access to shared equipment, software, and small creative grants to enable completion of each animation.
· Facilitate group critique and feedback sessions to strengthen learning, storytelling quality, and technical refinement.
Deliverables:
· 20 participants completing the full training and mentorship cycle.
· 20 one-minute short animations produced, each presenting an authentic African story or theme.
· Mentor progress reports, participant feedback summaries, and samples of learning materials used.
Task 3: Showcase and Market Access
- Organise a showcase event highlighting participant outputs and facilitating engagement with studios, distributors, and investors.
- Develop a digital portfolio or online exhibition to promote participants’ work nationally and regionally.
- Facilitate at least three collaboration or distribution opportunities.
Deliverables:
- Showcase report including attendance and media coverage.
- Digital catalogue or online portfolio of participant projects.
- Summary of market linkages facilitated.
Task 4: Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning
- Implement a monitoring and learning framework tracking participation, diversity, creative outputs, and market linkages.
- Conduct reflection sessions to capture lessons for future programming.
- Submit required progress and final reports to UNDP.
Deliverables:
- Mid-term progress report.
- Final report with M&E data and recommendations.
