Anti-Corruption Part-Time Consultant, Latin America

The ABA Center for Human Rights is seeking a part-time consultant to contribute to our work supporting anti-corruption advocates in Latin America. The consultant will help support initiatives related to legal defense analysis and anti-corruption in the region. Targeted repression against rights and land defenders, lawyers, and journalists in particular is escalating in various parts of Latin America with a heightened need for advocacy, legal assistance, and mechanisms for accountability. The ABA requests candidates to carry out legal research and analysis in Spanish, draft reports, participate in partner meetings with various Spanish-speaking stakeholders, and apply their knowledge in advocacy efforts around anti-corruption or accountability for human rights and abuses and corruption.

The ideal candidate has the following skills and experience:

  • Expertise in corruption issues and anti-corruption efforts in Latin America.
  • Experience working in the judicial sector in Latin America.
  • Experience analyzing criminal defense cases in Latin America.
  • Experience working directly with anti-corruption advocates in Latin America.
  • Knowledge of anti-corruption tools and mechanisms in Latin America.
  • Spanish fluency required.

The Association is focused on the following characteristics of the successful applicant:

  • Cost/rate.
  • Experience participating in advocacy related to anti-corruption measures or accountability measures and corruption in Latin America.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the threats facing anti-corruption advocates in Latin America.
  • Exceptional legal writing skills in Spanish.
  • Fluent spoken Spanish.
  • Demonstrated experience handling confidential work products.
