Your assignment

At Radio-Canada Estrie, we are constantly on the lookout for new talent to fill our on-call positions. We are currently seeking journalists (web/radio/television) for our newsroom. You will demonstrate integrity and confidence to bring our broadcasts to life.

According to the CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices, your responsibilities will include research, conducting interviews, writing scripts, processing images and audio, and producing accurate, verified, dynamic, and captivating content that can be broadcast across various platforms (internet, mobile, radio, television).

We are looking for candidates who are highly autonomous, able to find their own stories, and willing to think outside the box to tell them in various formats.

Please note that these are on-call positions, and you may be required to work early morning, late evening, or weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities:

  • Propose original topics, conduct research, write and produce reports for digital, radio, and television programming that will engage and inform audiences, strengthen our community connections, and present a wide range of perspectives.

  • Present information on-air in various formats.

  • Prepare and write scripts, transitions, and headlines.

  • Condense large amounts of complex information while adhering to tight deadlines.

  • Build and maintain working relationships with a wide range of sources and contacts.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience in journalism or equivalent (an asset).

Skills:

  • Strong general knowledge

  • Deep understanding of current events in the Estrie region

  • Excellent command of the working language: French

  • English is an asset

  • Knowledge of communication techniques specific to media (web, radio, television) and interview techniques

  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada Journalistic Standards and Practices

  • Good knowledge of digital storytelling production

  • A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance requirements

  • Ability to work in a team while demonstrating autonomy, resourcefulness, and initiative

  • Boldness, creativity, and curiosity in researching facts and stories of interest

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
