You just found it.Application Specialist: Bioprocessing – Field Based, UKWe have an exciting opportunity for an Application Specialist: Bioprocessing, to work with our Applikon team, part of our expanding Life Science division. This key, national position will be responsible for developing and growing our market share within Biopharmaceutical / Pharmaceutical Production, Biomedical Research, Medical Devices and Laboratories, by providing specialist technical expertise to internal stakeholders and external customers. You will champion and drive forward sales of our bioprocessing product range whilst engaging collaboratively with customers to enable them to optimise Getinge solutions.Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with sales to provide customers with in-depth knowledge of Getinge bioprocessing products.
  • Provide support to customers through answering inquiries, troubleshooting and resolving bioprocess and software related issues, both remotely and on customer site.
  • Keep track of support requests and identify patterns of common issues and frequently asked questions.
  • Lead customer equipment trials through organising demo equipment and providing process support where required to ensure mutually agreed trial success criteria is met.
  • Support sales with equipment demonstrations, technical presentations, workshops and conferences where required.
  • Ensure collaboration between customer post sales requirements and Service/Factory support capabilities.
  • Keep up to date on emerging bioreactor technologies, industry trends, competitors’ products and feedback to sales and product management.
  • Work closely with sales and service to build strong relationships with existing accounts, identify further training needs and discuss tailored training options with the customer to help them meet their bioprocessing goals.
  • Provide advanced product training both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with our global Applications Support team to develop application notes, customer reference sites and success stories.
  • Support customers with process-based recipe creation using SCADA software for bioprocess workflow automation and advanced process control.
  • Support sales with complex RFQs and tender responses in ensuring customer requirements are fully addressed.
  • Compile supporting documents such as datasheets, literature and application notes relevant to specific customer proposals.
  • Ensure CRM is kept up to date for customer accounts.
  • Willingness to travel both nationally and internationally as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree and a PhD or Master’s in a relevant life science field such as Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering or similar.
  • Strong understanding of bioprocessing and cell culture principles.
  • Hands on experience working with bioreactors in a laboratory or industrial setting.
  • Ability to technically convey knowledge of products and solutions.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills at all levels.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills (English).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Valid driving license, willing and able to travel significantly (up to 40%) throughout your defined territory and further afield.

Good to Have:

  • Previous experience in a similar customer facing role.
  • Previous experience with SCADA software for advanced process control.
  • Knowledge of Life Science regulatory environment in relation to bioprocessing including GMP.
  • Previous experience of training personnel in equipment and processes.
  • Previous experience with CRM and generating quotes.
  • Knowledge of capital equipment tender process.
