Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice (PMLD)£6.40 per hour18 Month AprenticeshipRequired from September 2024This post is based at The Oaks Secondary School which is a generic special school for pupils who have moderate, severe, or profound and multiple learning difficulties or Autism Spectrum Conditions. The school has received an outstanding grading from Ofsted in its last four inspections.The Oaks Secondary School is federated with Evergreen Primary School at Bishop Auckland and Croft Community School at Annfield Plain.The Head of School and Governors of The Oaks Secondary School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to complete a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship within our school.Under the direction of the Head of School we will support the apprentice gain experience and skills whilst working with pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties. They will be supported by classroom teachers and teaching assistants throughout the school day. They will gain experience and skills in understanding the pupils needs from an academic, physical and social perspective. We encourage all candidates to meet Mrs Tweddle, Head of School and visit the school to discuss the role further.There will be a requirement to attend college one day per week to complete the Level 3 training during the academic year 2024/25.The working pattern is as follows:Mon 8.10am – 4.00pmTue 8.10am – 4.00pmWed 8.10am – 4.40pmThu 8.10am – 4.00pmFri 8.20am – 3.50pmThis post is term time only.Calculation of term time only plus two weeks’ payTerm time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
- Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
- Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
- Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks; plus
- Individual leave entitlement – 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave.
