NRC Iraq is looking for an Area Manager to join the South-Central Area Office. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring high-quality and cost-effective programme/project implementation in the area which covers Baghdad, Tuz and Ramadi in Iraq.

What You Will Do

  • Line management for senior project staff, support functions and Field Office Coordinators in the area. 
  • Member of the Country Management Group (CMG) working closely with the Country Director 
  • Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures
  • Provide area specific input on Core Competency strategies, Country Strategy, and Implementation Plans
  • Organise grants opening and closure meetings at area level.
  • Implementation of projects (including master support budget and coordinating input for donor proposals and reports) in the area, in compliance with contractual commitments (i.e. quality, synergies, timeliness, and effective use of resources) aligned to NRC strategies.
  • Assess needs and inform the country office of emergency interventions that NRC could consider for People in Need.
  • Represent NRC in line with the CO strategies and NRC’s mandate.
  • Ensure overall security and safety of staff in the area working closely with the HSS Manager
  • Work closely with the Advocacy team to promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the organisations mandate and the advocacy strategy.

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a Senior Project Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Bachelor’s university degree.
  • Good communication and listening skills demonstrating an inclusive approach.  Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile and able to demonstrate innovative ways of working to achieve maximum potential of the team.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal 
  • Knowledge of the context in Baghdad and the southern regions of operations but not excluding the regional implications and potential impact 
  • Knowledge of the local language Arabic and Kurdish preferred.
  • Experience with managing organisational restructure and change management.
  • Culturally sensitive and understand conflict dynamics in the context.

What We Offer

  • Baghdad, Iraq duty station.
  • Until 31st December (Renewable, NRC Contracts run Jan- Dec yearly pending funding and performance).
  • 35%  travel, approximately 
  • Senior Grade 10 in NRC’s Salary Scale. NRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
