Tetra Tech International Development is looking for an Assessment Panel Member for the Laos Australia Institute: Australia Awards Scholarships Laos program. The Assessment Panel Member for Australia Awards Laos will help evaluate scholarship applicants and select the top 20-30% to move forward to the next stages, which include IELTS testing and interviews. They will assess applicants based on core selection principles and criteria, including Academic Competence, Leadership Attributes, and Potential Outcome.

  • Remote (home based)
  • Short term – up to 25 input days full time contracted daily from 06 May 2025 – 9 June 2025.

Laos Australia Institute: Australia Awards Laos is managed by Tetra Tech International Development on behalf of the Australian Government through the Laos Australia Institute.

Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS) are prestigious international awards offered by the Australian Government to the next generation of global leaders in developing countries. Through study and research, recipients develop the skills and knowledge to drive change and help build enduring people-to-people links with Australia.

Key responsibilities:

The Assessment Panel Member will be expected to deliver the following:

  • Review eligibility and assess (score/rank) applicants for the Australia Awards Scholarship Intake 2026.
  • Apply fair and transparent assessment processes.
  • Discuss the merits of applicants following Laos Australia Institute guidelines.
  • Independently assess and score applications using a scoring matrix.
  • Double-check and moderate scores, ensuring agreement where discrepancies arise.
  • Provide comments and a short assessment panel report, maintaining professional integrity and confidentiality.

Selection criteria:

  • A tertiary qualification from a recognised university in Education, Development, Human Resource Management and/or relevant field.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships; moderate differing opinions to achieve consensus.
  • Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Assess recruitment/selection processes and candidate performance from written content.
  • Experience in developing countries, preferably Laos, and understanding the role of development.
  • Skills in education assessment, recruitment, HR, and ability to work objectively and within a team.
  • Advanced English skills (IELTS 7.5+ or native speaker) and experience with online databases (desirable).
