Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine, in partnership with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC), is currently recruiting one (1) full-time qualified academic core obstetrician-gynecologist. This position includes a possible opportunity to participate in a transition to full practice, in conjunction with a career transition plan in our department. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of clinician investigator and must be on track or currently eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of assistant/ associate, or full professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2024, or at a mutually agreeable date.SHSC is a fully affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto and is associated with the Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI). SRI hosts a PhD Scientist with whom we collaborate, allowing bench to bedside research. SRI is also renowned for clinical trials management and hosts a number of ongoing trials inside and outside the Women’s’ Health area. The hospital Department provides a full range of clinical services in Obstetrics & Gynecology, including 4,000 births/year, and includes the divisions of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Midwifery, Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Gynecologic Surgery (including Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Urogynecology).We are seeking a candidate that will provide consultation services and ongoing care in core obstetrics and gynecology. Research interests could include population- based studies related to perinatal and/or gynecological care, innovation and knowledge translation in core obstetrics and gynecology, and could also extend to education and curriculum development in collaboration with other members of the department. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a component of low-risk pregnancy care, general gynecology clinic care to include urgent care and rapid access clinics, and obstetrics and gynecology on-call. Opportunities to perform colposcopy, participate in clinics for vulvar disorders, early pregnancy management, mature women’s health, or a mutually agreeable area of specialized interest are possible options.The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at SHSC supports all levels of medical learners, including trainees, fellows, and residents, thus the successful applicant should have a strong and documented commitment to education and teaching. Enthusiastic participation in all levels of our teaching and education mandate is expected, including residents in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Medicine, together with a share of department responsibilities to our 4-year MD Undergraduate Program, as well as elective students from other universities. The successful candidate will promote and demonstrate excellence in professional practices and conduct.As this position is for a Clinician Investigator, there will be an appropriate level of protected research time and the successful applicant must have an established track record in research. Scholarly activities will be supported by a salary stipend. The desirable candidate would hold, or be currently enrolled in an appropriate graduate degree program that aligns with the research interests of this position.Candidates must hold an MD degree, or equivalent, as well as a fellowship certificate in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or international equivalent, and must either be licensed, or be eligible for independent or restricted academic licence under the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
