This full-time appointment will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Teacher (CT) or Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI) at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Expected start date is January 1, 2025 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.We are seeking a physician who will deliver and foster excellence in academic gastroenterology. The successful candidate will join the Division of Gastroenterology, which currently has 7 full time members. The successful candidate should have clinical expertise in complex gastrointestinal conditions, with experience caring for patients with liver disease, and qualified to perform high quality upper and lower endoscopy. The position is expected to be 70% clinical and 30% related to education and administrative duties. Clinical duties will include 50% general GI and 50% liver related diseases.The successful candidate will join the Division of Gastroenterology which provides inpatient consultation service and ambulatory care including gastrointestinal endoscopy. Responsibilities will include excellent clinical care of both in-patients and out-patients, liaison with primary care, supervision of trainees in clinical care setting, formal teaching and scholarly achievements.The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, have or be eligible for certification in Gastroenterology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for medical licensure in Ontario. The successful applicant will have advanced training in teaching, education or quality improvement as well as advanced training in Hepatology.Advanced training in quality or innovation with evidence of scholarship (such as peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or awards) is required for a CQI position. Advanced training and demonstrated achievement in teaching and education is required for the CT position (such as a strong track record of teaching, awards, or education scholarship).Estimated compensation will be in the range of $250,000-$400,000 commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered.
