Working for the Augustana Faculty

Augustana enrolls approximately 1000 undergraduate students in baccalaureate degree programs on a residential campus in the City of Camrose, 90 kilometres southeast of Edmonton. The Campus is located on Treaty Six territory which provided a traveling route and home to the Maskwacis Nêhiyawak, Niitsitapi, Nakoda, and Tsuut’ina Nations, the Metis, and other Indigenous peoples. Their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create a rich heritage and ongoing model for our learning and our life as a community. Camrose is a vibrant growing community with a large network of recreational, sports, cultural, and community events with strong connections between Augustana and the local community.

Position

The Department of Social Sciences at the Augustana Faculty of the University of Alberta invites applicants for a tenure track/tenured position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Agricultural Economics.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the evolution of our Bachelor of Management program at our teaching intensive campus. They will have strong theoretical foundations and advanced quantitative and analytical skills. Specific teaching experience and research expertise in organizational studies, business planning, economic impact assessment, entrepreneurship and/or related topics will be an asset. The successful candidate’s research program will be related to rural development, agricultural development, and/or Indigenous communities. Candidates should also demonstrate their willingness to support and advance university commitments to equity, diversity, and inclusivity.

Duties

• Applicants should demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching in the business management program and a willingness to teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate level.
• They will also demonstrate the potential to achieve excellence in research with an externally-funded research program, community-engaged scholarship, interdisciplinary research collaborations, and the integration of undergraduate students into their research enterprise.
• The successful candidate will contribute to the intellectual life of the university, the management profession, and to communities and groups who partner in research.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD in Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics, Resource Economics, Economics, Business Economics, or a closely related field. Candidates must have already completed their PhD, or expect to receive their PhD by July 1, 2025. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
