Job Description:Position DetailsCollege of Engineering and Physical SciencesLocation: University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham UKGrade 8 Full time starting salary is normally in the range £45,585 to £54,395 with potential progression once in post to £61,198Grade 9 Full time starting salary is normally in the range £56,021 to £64,914 with potential progression once in post to £84,644Grade: 8 or 9Full Time, PermanentClosing date: 27th May 2024The School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham is recruiting new academic staff to fulfil its ambitions as a leading UK university for computer science. We seek to recruit across the broad spectrum of computer science, with a particular emphasis to strengthen and expand our research on cyber-physical systems. Potential specific research foci include formal verification, safe autonomy and AI, control theory, and model checking. We encourage applications from across the areas of cyber physical systems, verification and learning. The research focus of the post holder is expected to complement and strengthen the link between the current research areas of the School of Computer Science, which are Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Theoretical Computer Science and Socio-Technical Systems.The role holder will be based in Edgbaston. The key duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to: giving lectures and seminars and supervising undergraduate / post-graduate students, course development and innovation, taking an active part in examinations, carrying out innovative research and writing papers on topics relevant to the specialist subject area (this will include journals, books and other material), and obtaining research grant funding.The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant specialist subject area, as well as postdoctoral experience. We are looking for candidates who will actively contribute to our portfolio and community, through pursuit of research that will bring new opportunities, synergies, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
