The program is dedicated to increasing the number of Indigenous teachers in Alberta’s K-12 education system. It works to integrate Indigenous knowledge, histories, perspectives, and cultural practices into teacher education, aiming to provide future educators with the skills and understanding to better support Indigenous students and communities. Over the past five years, ATEP has expanded significantly, offering diverse delivery models that include on-campus, online, and community-based cohorts across Alberta.PositionThe Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta invites applications from qualified Indigenous scholars for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Indigenous Education, with expertise in at least one of the following areas:
This position will be situated within the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP), a flagship program in the Faculty of Education. The successful candidate will begin their appointment on July 1st, 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and rapidly growing program that currently serves approximately 240 students across on-campus, online, and community-based cohorts throughout Alberta and other parts of Canada.DutiesThe University of Alberta is committed to fostering access, community and belonging within our academic community.
