The Department’s core intellectual aim is to sustain a rich and welcoming environment as a methodologically and theoretically pluralist department with a broad and inclusive understanding of what it means to undertake research and teaching in Politics and International Studies. Collectively, we research and learn about political, ideological, economic, social and cultural structures that often prevent individuals’ lives from being the best they could be, the struggles through which everyday life is reproduced, the resistance that forms to the working out of institutional logics, and the visions of the future that follow from asking how things might be different. At Undergraduate level we offer single-honours degrees in Politics and Politics and International Studies; we administer several joint degrees (Politics and Sociology, Politics and French/German/Hispanic Studies/Italian, PAIS with Chinese); and we are involved in the teaching of several more (EconPAIS, History and Politics, PPE, PAIS and GSD, and PPL). Alongside this we run 10 MA degree courses and a suite of double-degrees with 7 partner institutions as well as an active PhD programme.PAIS values diversity, aims to challenge discrimination, and promotes equality. We are committed to strengthening our equality, diversity and inclusion agenda in relation to our community (students and staff), our research and teaching practices, and our curricula. We are committed to supporting all our staff in their work in PAIS.To find out more about the department please visit our website:To find out more about Warwick and the University’s strategy please visit:About the UniversityBorn in the 60s with a mindset of boldness, imagination and collaboration, the University of Warwick is a world-leading research-intensive university with the highest academic and research standards.
